Principal's Corner

2009-2010 Third Quarter:


As you enter the Crab Orchard School property you will notice the completion of our attractive new sign. The sign is a donation from the Crab Orchard Unit 3 School, the Crab Orchard School PTO and the Crab Orchard High School Student Council.


Our students will be involved in many activities and events this quarter. They will be involved in various academic and athletic activities and contest.


The annual Williamson County Spelling Bee is Monday, February 8, 2010. Representing Crab Orchard School are: Fifth Grade winner - Jaden Schell; Sixth Grade winner - Stephanie Scholz; Seventh Grade winner - Donovan Barger; Eighth Grade winner - Dakota Simmons.
The Spelling Bee runners-up for each class are:
Fifth Grade - Will Ellis; Sixth Grade - Destiny Barnett; Seventh Grade - Brenna Toler; Eighth Grade - Zane Clerk.
Congratulations! To each of these Crab Orchard Trojans.


The jr. high Scholar Bowl varsity is undefeated in their competition at the time of this publication. Congratulations! To Coach Jay Lentz and team.


Our high school, jr. high and elementary Team Quest will have their competitions the week of February 2-6.


There will be other academic contest throughout February and March. Good luck! To all participants.


Crab Orchard will host the IHSA Class "1A" basketball regional tournament February 22-26.

February 22-26 is the ISAT (Illinois Standards Achievement Test). Students in grades 3-8 will take the ISAT.

March 8-12 is Spring Break.

Other upcoming events of note: 

Early Childhood Child Find is March 24 in the IMC (8:00-11:00 AM). Kindergarten Registration is April 9. PSAE (Prairie State Achievement Exam) is April 28-29.
